aah, the summer update is to be released in a matter of hours and already the lag issue caused has returned. i'm not going to bother letting ANet know this time as my whole experience with their official support was a joke. My only hope is that the summer update is rubbish so i am in with a chance of playing the game again this month. When will ANet realise that they simply do not have the network capacity to cope with the number of users they have?

thats a good suggestion Gustav, but I run GW with the -perf command in my shortcut so I have the bandwidth usage on screen, during the lag periods the bandwidth drops to so it is not getting any data at all. ANet will try to blame my connection again but I don't see how I can play games on Steam with a ping less than 30 during the periods when I get lag from ANet.

I get a really odd Err=7. When I'm at home Guild Wars runs just fine, but when I'm at school on the same laptop I log in, and it does a login timeout the instant I try to select a character. I log back in, then it Err=7s within 30 seconds of me starting. Now my friend who sits right next to me on his laptop can get into GW just fine at school and we both have appx the same hardware. I'm running it on an Inspiron 8600 with a Pentium M 1.8 ghz, 64 meg Geforce FX 5200 Go graphics card, 512 meg ram, and the ever so s***ty IPW2200 wireless card. Any ideas of anything that might be conflicting with the school's network? It cant be port issues because my friend on his laptop on the same network less then 2 feet from me can log in and play just fine, so it has to be something with my computer.

Had an almost perfect connection since buying the game and been laggin
since just 2 or 3 days before the extreeme event, some days it's been
fine and others it's been realy bad, sent about 6 or more messages to
support and had alot of help that hasent done me any favours really.
Grats to them for trying to help but seems like alot of other people are
having the same bad luck with some bad lag days, .
Fingers crossed it's been ok for 2 days now, hope it stays like it.

ok, i read on another forum that i should try using a wired connection to my router instead of wireless, it has fixed the problem! so why ANet couldn't have suggested that i don't know, and why the lag on my wireless connection only occurs when ANet servers are busy i also don't know. But if you're getting lag and using wireless, try using a wire!

lag lag lag..damn i thought i saw the last of that when i was on 56k dial years ago. yet here i am now with an 8 meg connection ( results below of speed test
Downstream 7320 Kbps (915.0 KB/sec) 7905 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 472 Kbps (59.0 KB/sec) 509 Kbps (inc. overheads)
and yet in guildwars ( no other game has this problem)
im gettng anything upto 60 seconds of freeze in game.this can be european, US and international dists, anytime of the day or night in town or on quests. ive lost count of how many times ive been killed because of it freezing at the crucial moment of battle. im running no anti v, firewall, antispyware or any other background progs while playing, i easily meet the minimum spec with 2600 athlon xp 1 gb of ddr 400 ram and 256 meg graphics, yet still i get that damn yellow lightning symbol pop up ( though half the time it doesnt even do that just freezes for upto 60 seconds or more with my skill icons spinning away doing nothing. im not getting the err 7 though i have had that a few times in past but nothing to complain about. but now in the past two weeks game has become virtually unplayable. i can only assume due to guildwars hitting the 1million mark there servers just arent up to scratch and cant take the load. other than that i see no other reason why im getting any lag at all.. Anet really needs to get this sorted and quickly.. WoW i have zero lag with and could well be throwing in the towel with GW if things dont improve very soon

I'm currently running broadband medic and using a 1to1 live chat program with a tachnician from my ISP.
Preliminary tests showed my connection and PC to be great. I am just waiting on phase 2. Apparently my ISP can do some nifty tests for me too.
Three trips out of town and 3 err=7's...i'm bored with apologising to my team leader although on one occasion in iron mines, our whole team got err7...so it's not my end
GW is a drug and i'm suffering withdrawl symptoms already!

I've had no isses since my first BWE in January, but my problems started last Friday (10/14/2005). I've been working with GW support the last few days (who have been excellent I might add), running the netinfotool tests, etc, and we haven't managed to locate the problem. I've also worked with my ISP, but they were useless (let's ping yahoo... bah!).
The GW tech put me on to http://www.pingplotter.com which I will try tonight.

I was told to ping these:
206.127.149.36 and 209.0.88.72
But you should run the netinfotool found in the GW support pages to see if these are your local servers.
